The Patriot Movie Review

the-patriot-movie-review-photoThis is a review of the movie The Patriot.

The Patriot is a historical action movie rooted in fiction with Mel Gibson. I think that covers it. Directed by the action director to the stars, Roland Emmerich, it delivers on all fronts. It is a great watching movie with awesome scenery, witty dialogue and tons of action.

Mel Gibson plays Benjamin Martin, a farmer with a frustrated rocking chair creation hobby, who is complacent sitting out the revolutionary war. Sure, he doesn’t like what England is doing to the colony, but he thinks diplomacy would work. Since this is an action film, you have to know he gets involved.

What you’ll like about The Patriot:

  • The action. Lots of war scenes and fighting.
  • Heath Ledger. One of his few roles, but played very well.
  • Scenery. The shots are gorgeous of pastoral, American rolling hills.

What you won’t like about The Patriot:

  • Historical accuracy. Yeah, I am pretty sure the English weren’t the raving lunatics they are portrayed as in the movie.

A good movie to watch on a weekend, The Patriot is an enjoyable time walking through a fictional account of the revolutionary war.
