This is a movie review of Cyrus.
Cyrus is a movie starring John C. Reilly, Jonah Hill and Marisa Tomei. It is billed as a quirky comedy of the independent genre. It follows John C. Reilly’s wooing of Marissa Tomei and the meddling of her son Jonah Hill. The movie has its moments of comedy, but sometimes it is just starkly depressing.
What I liked about the movie:
John C. Reilly – He is such a good comedic actor and he brings a liveliness to the movie. In the scenes he’s in it feels like a real movie.
Wedding scene – John C. Reilly’s ex-wife gets re-married and I felt the wedding scene was hilarious.
What I disliked about the movie:
Tomei and Hill’s onscreen relationship – Supposedly Hill is the son of Tomei and they have a very open, awkward relationship.
Ending – It is rather abrupt and doesn’t really flow with the rest of the movie. I actually checked the DVD to see if I missed a chapter.
Cyrus is a quirky movie that should appeal to fans of the three main actors, but no one else.
