Finish Dishwasher Cleaner Review

finish-dishwasher-cleaner-photoThis is a review of Finish Dishwasher Cleaner.

The kitchen is my favorite room in the house for many reasons:

  1. It is new. Two years ago we ripped it down to the bare walls and paid a contractor to make it the way we wanted it. All new counters, cabinets, floor and more.
  2. When I clean I feel accomplished. When I clean the kitchen I feel like I am accomplishing something. It is immediate and it is lasting.
  3. Natural gathering. It’s a natural gathering spot for people. The bright walls invite people in to linger, talk and play.

When I clean I go all out. I wipe everything down to remove the stains of the week, ok you caught me, the month and then ensure everything is put away. The one area I don’t like cleaning is the dishwasher.

Our water isn’t hard, but the dishwasher seems to attract hard water, which leads to scaling. I’ve tried the popular methods of running vinegar or lemon juice through the dishwasher, but it just doesn’t work. This sucks since our dishwasher is a very classy looking stainless.

At the store I came across the Finish Dishwasher Cleaner and was intrigued. This funky looking box might be what I needed.

To use the cleaner you don’t remove the cap, but the sticker over the cap. Turn the bottle upside down and place into the lower level of the dishwasher. My guess is that the cap melts away when in the dishwasher. Turn your dishwasher on a normal cycle and let it go.

Does it work?

Yes, perfectly. Any area that water reaches is cleaned of the hard water or mineral deposits and smells great. I did notice that the areas water didn’t touch stayed dirty, but what do you expect? It’s not a cleaning robot.

We run this through our dishwasher once a month. I have no idea if the dishwasher will last longer or if our dishes are getting cleaner, but I do know I like the way our dishwasher looks after being cleaned.
