Review of Appleton Pork Roast

Prepared meals are usually bad for you, but the Appleton Pork Roast is actually ok. While it has a higher amount of fat than most people will like, it is well prepared and features a very smooth gravy.

The pork roast is shipped in a vacuum sealed bag placed in a plastic tray. It’s not frozen, but refrigerated.

To cook it you poke a couple of holes in the bag and microwave it. Simple. The photos below show what to expect before you cook it and then after. While it doesn’t look particuarly appetizing, the taste is very good.

Review of Happy Farms Cheese Spread

Aldi is a source of most of our food, so their brands are what we choose from. One of their brands is Happy Farms, which is the cheese spread brand.

Yes, this is your typical cheese spread in a rectangle cardboard box. Think Velveeta.

I usually don’t like block cheese spreads like this due to their very salty taste, but the Happy Farms cheese spread is actually quit good. Not too salty and it melts very well.

I routinely put it on the following:

  • Chicken
  • Broccoli
  • Fish

Review of Bob Evans Express Sausage Links

I’ve always preferred the taste of Bob Evans sausage, but most of the time it’s only available in rolls that aren’t cooked. It’s a pain to cut up the roll and fry it. They do sell precut rolls, but you pay so much more for them it’s hardly worth it. So, I was very happy to see Bob Evans came out with a microwave version of their sausage. They have patties and links, but I am partial to the links.

The sausage tastes just like normal Bob Evans sausage, but it’s quick to make. How fast? You can cook 5 links in a minute.

Frigo string cheese review

I am fond of the saying, “String cheese is the milk of the gods.” I made that up, do you like it?

I’m a relative late comer to the string cheese game. Never having really experienced it until I was an adult, I fell in love. Frigo is by far the best string cheese on the market. It’s milky, soft and impressively always breaks apart properly. Other string cheeses have a tendency to clump up.

The only issue I have is with their logo. The little string cheese man actually has a shredded hand. Look at it. How would you like your mascot to be a mamed product?

Review of GG Bran Crispbread

Prior to starting a low carb based diet, I had no idea what crispbread was or how it tasted. You can think of crispbread as a minimally processed cracker. This particular crispbread comes from Norway and is 85% bran. This leads to low calories, only 12 per slice, and low carbs, only 2 per slice.

They are firm and taste like you’d think almost pure bran does. It’s a little grainy and chewey, but not soft.

I use them for mini-pizzas, cheese spread and may favorite dish. You take four crispbreads, spread on whipped cream cheese, sprinkle on splenda and cinammon. It tastes delicious and is a a sweet treat. I cannot reccomend this more for people losing weight.
